Title: Custom error pages
Post by: McGyver45 on October 27, 2007, 10:20:12 AM
Hello,

I have been with Hostned for several years now and I have never taken advantage of the custom error pages.  Since the domains I host have been redesigned several times in that time frame, old crawls from search engines turn up outdated links.  I would like to have those outdated links automatically forward to the current site.

Can I use a meta-refresh on the error pages?  And are the pages in the error_docs folder of the root the pages I can customize?  I do not want to mess with anything before I am sure.

Thanks for the help.

Yes, you can use meta refresh.  As for location, it depends.  Which server are you on?

Thanks for the reply.  I added a meta refresh tag to the error pages located here:
/home/httpd/vhosts/domain_name/error_pages/
But that did not work.  It is still calling the standard dynaweb error page.

Any ideas?  Thanks.

Sounds like you are on Plesk Linux server.  They may just not be enabled.  To enable, go into plesk under the domain and click on SETUP.  Then under the SERVICES section ensure "Custom Error Documents" is checked.  If still no luck, open a support ticket and reference this thread :)
