I want to run some cgis I've programmed in gawk, where is gawk?
and
when I do a dir in my cgi-bin directory I get:
-rw-r--r--
how do I change file permissions?

Well, I do not know which server you are on, but if Linux you can try
/bin/gawk
I use Filezilla FTP program to change dir permissions. It supports CHMOD.
